الملخص

This study aimed to investigate the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in developing functional English language skills and its relationship with the job performance of employees at the Irbid Directorate of Agriculture in Jordan. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach and utilized a structured questionnaire administered to a random sample of (105) employees, including administrators, agricultural engineers, and technicians. The findings revealed a moderate level of employee awareness and adoption of AI tools, alongside a high positive impact of AI use on the development of functional English language skills, particularly professional writing and specialized reading. The results also demonstrated a strong, positive, and statistically significant correlation between AI use and job performance (r = 0.68, p < 0.001). Furthermore, statistically significant differences were found in participants' responses according to age and educational qualification, with younger employees and those holding postgraduate degrees reporting higher levels of AI use and more positive perceptions. Technical and organizational challenges were identified as major barriers to comprehensive AI adoption. The study recommends institutionalizing AI use and providing specialized training programs to enhance employees' digital, linguistic, and professional competencies.
